This five-star property on Trinity Place doesn’t try too hard to impress you, which honestly makes it even more impressive. The lobby has this understated elegance that whispers luxury rather than shouting it, and you can immediately sense why couples rate the location so highly (a 9.8, actually). There’s something about the way the light filters through the windows that makes you want to linger, even when you’re eager to see your room.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what’s brilliant about staying in Back Bay? Everything you want to see in Boston is basically within walking distance, and Raffles Boston sits right in the sweet spot of it all. Trinity Church is practically next door — you can see it from some rooms — and Newbury Street’s shopping is just a few blocks away. The location score of 9.7 makes perfect sense when you realize you can stroll to the Public Garden in one direction and hit Copley Square in the other. I’ve stayed in hotels where you need to plan your day around transportation, but here you just walk out the door and you’re already where you want to be.

The Rooms

The accommodations here strike that perfect balance between contemporary design and classic Boston charm. My room had these gorgeous oversized windows that flooded the space with natural light, and the attention to detail was remarkable — I’m talking about things like the quality of the linens and the way the bathroom amenities were thoughtfully arranged. What really impressed me was how quiet everything was, despite being in the heart of the city. You’d think with such a central location there’d be street noise, but the soundproofing is exceptional.

Breakfast Experience

The breakfast situation at Raffles Boston is honestly one of the best I’ve encountered in the city. They offer continental, vegetarian, gluten-free, and American options, which means everyone in your group will find something they actually want to eat (not just settle for). The American breakfast is particularly well-executed — think perfectly cooked eggs and locally-sourced ingredients that taste like they came from somewhere that cares about food. I appreciated that they didn’t just throw together a generic hotel buffet and call it a day.

There’s something about this place that just works, and I think it comes down to the fact that they’ve managed to create a luxury experience that doesn’t feel stuffy or pretentious.   Everything was superb. The staff, the breakfast on the terrace, our diner in the Portuguese restaurant, coctails at the Long Bar. The concierge was great as well, in service and communiation by whatsapp. When we left we were asked what could be improved and we could not come up with one single thing. Excellent.
