Staypineapple, A Delightful Hotel, South End Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Staypineapple, A Delightful Hotel, South End on Chandler Street, you immediately get why this place has such a devoted following. The building itself has that classic Boston brownstone charm, but there’s something playfully modern about the whole vibe — honestly, the pineapple theme could’ve been cheesy, but they’ve done it with just the right touch of whimsy. You know what really struck me? The way they’ve managed to feel both boutique-intimate and polished without trying too hard.
Location & Neighborhood
The South End location is actually brilliant — I mean, you’re right in one of Boston’s most walkable neighborhoods, surrounded by Victorian architecture and tree-lined streets that feel worlds away from the tourist chaos downtown. What I love is that you can stroll to Back Bay in about ten minutes, hit the theater district easily, but still come home to this quieter, more residential feel. The couples who rate this area so highly (and they do — 9.0 out of 10) aren’t wrong; there’s something romantic about wandering these streets in the evening, ducking into wine bars and bistros that locals actually frequent.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was what I’d call thoughtfully designed — not huge by any means, but every inch felt purposeful. The beds are genuinely comfortable (and yes, there are subtle pineapple touches that made me smile rather than roll my eyes), and the bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for a historic building. What really impressed me was the attention to little details — good lighting for actually reading, plenty of outlets where you need them, and blackout curtains that work. The four-star rating feels spot-on; it’s polished and comfortable without the stuffiness you sometimes get at pricier places.
Dining & Amenities
The hotel doesn’t have a full restaurant, but honestly, with the South End’s dining scene right outside your door, that’s not really a problem. What they do have is a solid grab-and-go setup for breakfast and snacks, plus they’re genuinely helpful about restaurant recommendations — and I mean specific suggestions, not just the usual tourist traps. The fitness center is compact but well-equipped, and there’s a business center that actually works when you need to print boarding passes or handle last-minute work stuff.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about Staypineapple — it gets the balance right between personality and professionalism. The staff seems to actually enjoy working there, which shows in how they interact with guests, and the whole place has this welcoming energy that makes you want to come back. For the price point, you’re getting solid value in one of Boston’s best neighborhoods, with enough character to feel special but not so quirky that it becomes gimmicky. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend or a business trip where you want to stay somewhere with actual soul, this place delivers without overthinking it.
Hotel in Boston reservations spike before Marathon Monday when runners pack Back Bay brownstones.

Very friendly and helpful staff, both at the reception and in the bar. Small (colourful decorated) room, but we managed well with our 5 suitcases 😂 Clean and good supply of towels. Everyone staying should support and buy ‘a Dash’ before they leave 😉.
