Renovated, 10 Min from the city Overview
First Impressions
Honestly, when I first pulled up to Renovated, 10 Min from the city on Hano Street, I wasn’t expecting much — the name pretty much tells you everything, right? But you know what, sometimes the most straightforward places surprise you. This three-star spot in Allston/Brighton doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not, and that’s actually refreshing. The building itself has that classic Boston charm, and you can tell they’ve put real effort into updating things without losing character.
The Allston Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in this part of Boston — you’re getting the real neighborhood experience without the downtown price tag. Allston/Brighton has this great mix of college energy and local flavor that you just don’t find in the touristy areas. There’s a solid restaurant scene within walking distance, and honestly, the T access is better than you’d expect. I mean, that 10-minute promise to get downtown? It’s pretty accurate if you time the Green Line right, though we all know Boston transit has its moods.
What You’re Actually Getting
The room I stayed in was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve been. The renovation shows in the details: updated fixtures, decent Wi-Fi, and air conditioning that actually keeps up with Boston’s summer humidity. Parking is available, which is honestly a huge deal in this city where finding a spot can feel like winning the lottery. The beds are comfortable enough, and there’s sufficient storage space for a week-long stay.
The Neighborhood Reality
What really struck me is how this area comes alive in the evenings — there’s always something happening, but it’s not overwhelming. You’ve got Harvard Avenue right there with its mix of casual spots and late-night options. The couples who rate this place highly (and apparently they do) probably appreciate that you can actually have a conversation while walking around, unlike some of the more chaotic parts of the city. Plus, there’s something nice about staying somewhere that locals actually frequent rather than just tourists.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the highlight of your Boston trip, but it’s going to be a solid, reliable base that doesn’t break the bank. The location really does work — I found myself using rideshares less than expected because the neighborhood itself had what I needed. The staff seems to get that most people staying here are practical travelers who want things to work smoothly without a lot of fuss. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, grab coffee nearby, and head out to explore the city without feeling like you’re missing out on anything by not staying downtown.

Very convenient to the T. They had left eggs, milk and OJ which was very nice. There was ample space, the proper beds were made per our request and they were very quick to respond.

Worked well for my needs and in the neighborhood I needed to be in. I liked that both beds were made up so I could pick the one best for me (I like firm, and the second bed was soft). The eggs and toast in the fridge were super helpful since I arrived late and hungry!
Ruchama from Israel (8/10)

Great apartment for our family group. Nice sized bedrooms and great kitchen/living area. AC worked great. Very nice to have OJ and milk waiting for us in the fridge 🙂 Easy to get to from Interstate 90. Neighborhood looked to be in transition to more upscale. Good location to get to Cambridge/Harvard area.
