Inn at St. Botolph Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to the Inn at St. Botolph, you immediately get that “hidden gem” feeling — it’s tucked right into the heart of Back Bay without all the tourist chaos you’d expect. The building has this understated elegance that feels authentically Boston, you know? It’s a three-star property, but honestly, it punches way above its weight class. The entrance feels more like stepping into a well-appointed townhouse than a typical hotel, which I actually loved.

Location & Neighborhood

This spot in Boston is honestly perfect if you want to feel like a local rather than just another tourist. St. Botolph Street sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to Newbury Street shopping and the Public Garden, but far enough from the madness to actually get some peace. I mean, couples rate the location nearly perfect for a reason — you can stroll to some of the city’s best restaurants without dealing with the Faneuil Hall crowds. The Back Bay brownstones around here are gorgeous, and you’ll find yourself taking photos of the tree-lined streets whether you planned to or not.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious for Boston standards — and trust me, that matters here where some hotels feel like glorified closets. What really stood out were the beds, which were genuinely some of the most comfortable I’ve slept in. They’re not kidding when they say this place is highly rated for sleep quality. The decor strikes this nice balance between classic New England charm and modern comfort, with thoughtful touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. The windows are well-insulated too, so even though you’re in the city, it stays quiet at night.

Breakfast & Practical Details

The breakfast situation is pretty straightforward — they do breakfast to go, which actually works perfectly if you want to grab something and explore the neighborhood. It’s not a fancy spread, but it gets the job done and saves you from hunting down coffee first thing in the morning. There’s decent parking nearby, though like anywhere in Boston, you’ll pay for it — but at least you won’t be circling blocks looking for a spot. The staff here really knows the area well and can point you toward the good stuff that guidebooks miss.

Why Guests Love It

What makes this place special is that it feels like you’re staying in someone’s well-appointed home rather than a generic hotel. The location score speaks for itself — you’re genuinely in the real heart of Boston, not some tourist bubble. You can walk to the Symphony, hit up the shops on Newbury, or just wander through the Public Garden without needing to plan your whole day around transportation. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself coming back because it just works — comfortable, well-located, and refreshingly unpretentious for a city that can sometimes take itself too seriously.

Cozy and private feeling. Not a typical ‘hotel’ experience.

This hotel is in a residential neighborhood, and near the train station, a metro and a bus stop. We found good food options in walking distance, and slept peacefully in our quiet room.
Our suite had a queen and an inflatable mattress for a child. There was plenty of room for both. The apartment was tastefully modern, and spacious. The bathroom was a little small, but everything worked and was spotless.
Every time I called to get information or stopped at the office, the employees were friendly and helpful.

I 'd like to thank the lady, Jordanne, at the front desk (hopefully I spell her name correctly).
I checked in soon after a procedure, Jordanne is so thoughtful, in helping with my luggage and placing it on the rack so that I didn't have to bend over. Her cheerfulness gave me much comfort.
    Thanks Jordanne!

Location was excellent, a very quite street in a very central place. The room was large and comfortable, very clean. Getting in and into the room was very convenient and easy, got all the information I needed up front. I used the small kitchen a lot, bought my own food so both the fridge and the microwave as well as the dishes were very useful. I also used the exercise room, which was small and basic, but enough for my needs. Breakfast – well, since this is a USA hotel, I can say the breakfast was great, with coffee, fruits (apples), cereal and some bread. Anywhere else in the world that won't be considered enough. but again, compared to what was offered in the conference I attended, it was better.
